PROJECT EXPERIENCE
1. Identification and characterization of malaria vectors and the parasites
they transmit.
Period: May 15, 1995 to date (four years)
2. Antimalarial and drug resistance. A comparative study of the effectiveness
of chlorquinine, larium, fancidar and quinine for chemotherapy and/or prophylaxis.
3. Establishment and implementation of a Physicians
Assistant/Health Officers program in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
A health and educational capacity building

4. Suppression and Elimination of Tse tse flies, vectors of Trypanosomiasis,
in Southern Ethiopia.
A collaborative project of DCBI and The International Center for Insect
Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE)
Date: June 1995 to August 1997
II. EDUCATION
1. Training and upgrading of three hundred Ethiopian high school teachers
in English, Math, and Sciences ( biology, chemistry,and physics). An educational
capacity building program designed to improve course content and pedagogy.
